Guide to searching documents

On document dashboards, you will see a search box at the top. This search box has two options – to search the full text (the default), or search the metadata.

Searching the full text will return results from DocumentCloud’s database of PDFs that have been uploaded by Unredacted. It will search the first 150 pages of any document, and highlight text matches in yellow. Results are returned 10 documents at a time.

Searching the metadata will yield a narrower set of results, as it will only search the title, source and description of each document. This may be more helpful if you know the title of the document you are looking for, for example. Results are also returned 10 documents at a time. There are no highlights.
